Position Overview
We are looking to welcome a CAD Designer 1 to our engineering department in Dallas, TX. This entry-level position focuses on mechanical design and product development, particularly in HVAC systems. The successful candidate will support engineering teams in converting concepts into precise 3D models, engineering drawings, and comprehensive bills of materials necessary for manufacturing and production.
Key Duties
- Generate detailed 3D models and engineering drawings utilizing Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD software.
- Produce piece part and assembly drawings aligning with engineering and production standards.
- Create thorough Bills of Materials specifying all required materials, quantities, and specifications.
- Include all requisite dimensions and views to facilitate manufacturing.
- Manage Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) through designated engineering systems.
- Coordinate with engineers and actively participate in planning sessions.
- Assist in new product development from initial design through to production deployment.
- Maintain and update existing product engineering documentation.
- Oversee assigned projects under supervision, growing responsibilities with experience.
- Commit to learning industry design standards, methodologies, and best practices continuously.
Candidate Profile
- Associate degree or technical certification in Drafting, Engineering Technology, Design, or related discipline preferred.
- Between zero to two years’ experience in CAD or mechanical design roles.
- Familiarity with Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, or comparable 2D/3D CAD platforms.
- Fundamental mechanical drafting and design knowledge.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational capabilities.
- Motivated to engage in ongoing technical education.
- Experience with prototyping is advantageous but not mandatory.
Work Conditions
- Primarily office-based with occasional visits to manufacturing sites requiring standing and walking.
- Ability to lift items up to 25 pounds.
- Adherence to safety protocols when in manufacturing environments is mandatory.
