Job Overview
Insight Global is currently hiring a full-time Buyer positioned in Windsor, Ontario, working on-site five days a week. This permanent role offers an annual salary ranging from $70,000 to $80,000. The successful candidate will report to the Plant Manager at a prominent global manufacturing company.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Handle Requests for Quotation (RFQ) and manage commodity purchasing for both existing and new products.
- Conduct negotiations concerning pricing, delivery schedules, and supplier contracts to achieve advantageous cost, quality, and service levels.
- Identify and implement yearly cost savings through supplier discussions and Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) methodologies.
- Oversee supplier Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) submissions, ensuring timely approvals and delivery of parts.
- Administer supplier purchase orders, monitor supplier performance ratings, manage adjustments related to aluminum and currency, and maintain tooling documentation.
- Assist in new product introductions, participating in design evaluations, Engineering Change Requests (ECR), packaging approval, PPAP paperwork, and label validation.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Quality departments on product and process modifications.
- Lead capital expenditures procurement processes and contribute to strategic sourcing endeavors.
- Build and sustain supplier relationships, guaranteeing adherence to supplier compliance standards.
- Support indirect procurement tasks, including catalog purchasing, requisition processing, and supplier negotiating activities.
Qualifications and Experience Required
- Minimum of four years’ experience in purchasing or procurement within a manufacturing setting.
- Background in automotive sector procurement.
- Proficient in managing RFQs, supplier contracts, and implementing cost-saving plans.
- Skilled in reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
- Knowledgeable about manufacturing cost factors, especially in aluminum die casting and machining operations.
- Competent with Microsoft Office applications and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
- Experience collaborating across departments including Engineering, Quality, and Operations.
Preferred Skills and Certifications
- Post-secondary qualification in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain, or related disciplines.
- PMAC Level III or similar professional procurement certification.
- Familiarity with Oracle ERP software.
- Experience with global sourcing projects.
- Acquisition integration exposure and change management capabilities.
