The India Data & Analytics Global Capability Centre is a vital part of ACT's international Data & Analytics function. The Associate Data Scientist role is essential in contributing to ACT's global analytics growth.
Role Summary
The successful candidate will collaborate with diverse teams including Global Marketing, Merchandising, Global Technology, and various Business Units. This role involves executing advanced analytics projects that influence business outcomes through methods such as data cleaning, exploratory analysis, modeling, and the preparation of comprehensive deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
- Explore and analyze large volumes of both structured and unstructured data to create detailed analyses and machine learning models focusing on retail, marketing, merchandising, and other business sectors.
- Apply data mining, statistical, and machine learning methods to extract actionable insights from data related to stores, products, operations, finance, and customer transactions.
- Evaluate multiple algorithms or system architectures, recommending the most effective models with thorough explanations to support data-driven decisions.
- Leverage cloud platforms to retrieve pre-processed data for statistical modeling, large-scale data analysis, and visualization of extensive time series and cross-sectional data sets.
- Formulate hypotheses, conduct nuanced analyses, develop data models, and bring clarity to complex, previously undefined challenges.
- Work jointly with Data Engineering to develop and maintain key data infrastructure, pipelines, and automated workflows for dashboards and analytical reporting.
- Communicate sophisticated data science models and findings to business stakeholders in clear, compelling, and innovative formats.
Qualifications and Experience
- A bachelor's degree is mandatory, ideally with a quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Business Analytics, Data Science, Mathematics, or Economics.
- Master's degrees such as MBA, MS Computer Science, or M.Tech in Computer Science are preferred.
- One to two years of relevant experience in data science or advanced analytics roles.
- Familiarity with Functional Analytics areas like Supply Chain, Marketing, and Customer Analytics.
- Competence in statistical modeling utilizing analytical tools such as R, Python, and KNIME, alongside experience with big data technologies.
- Proficiency in business intelligence and reporting software including Power BI, Tableau, and Alteryx.
- Experience with enterprise reporting systems, relational databases (e.g., MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server), non-relational databases, and data engineering tools.
- Knowledge and hands-on use of big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Presto) and cloud computing platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) for data engineering and machine learning operations.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver results, strong business acumen, and effective interpersonal communication skills.
- Self-motivated, highly organized, capable of managing multiple priorities independently in a fast-paced environment.
