Job Overview
The Associate Corporate Counsel role entails providing comprehensive support to litigation teams dealing with labor, employment, and real estate disputes across India. The position requires managing legal case files, assisting in legal proceedings, and collaborating extensively with outside counsel for effective court representation.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage various civil, labor, and criminal litigations across multiple courts and regulatory bodies nationwide.
- Analyze cases thoroughly by reviewing facts, applying relevant laws and regulations to strategize effectively.
- Maintain meticulous case management records, monitor litigation timelines, and ensure adherence to court directives.
- Draft, scrutinize, and finalize pleadings, affidavits, notices, and other legal documents necessary for court proceedings.
- Prepare detailed briefing notes and instructions for external counsels to facilitate case preparation.
- Coordinate and monitor the performance of external advocates, law firms, and consultants to guarantee effective representation.
- Represent the company in courts, tribunals, and quasi-judicial forums where permissible.
- Support all stages of dispute resolution including hearings, trials, negotiations, mediation, and arbitration.
- Offer strategic legal counsel to business, human resources, and operations teams focused on minimizing litigation risks and avoiding disputes.
- Assist in internal investigations, and prepare responses for regulatory inquiries and enforcement proceedings.
- Execute company secretarial duties and ensure compliance as required by the role.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in litigation, combining roles in corporate law firms and in-house legal teams.
- Professional qualifications including Company Secretary and LL.B/LL.M from accredited institutions.
- Preference for candidates with prior litigation experience before courts and tribunals.
