Job Overview
The Assistant Manager in Finance supports daily general ledger processes and assists clients in understanding these accounting operations. Key responsibilities include account balancing, ledger reconciliation, report generation, and resolving discrepancies.
Qualifications and Experience
- A bachelor's degree (4-year) in Finance, Accounting or a related field is required with no prior work experience.
- Alternatively, candidates with a 2-year degree in Finance, Accounting, or related areas along with two years of relevant professional experience are eligible.
Core Responsibilities
- Coordinate and execute assigned accounting tasks and projects, including standard operating procedure audits across the property.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations related to fraud and collection processes.
- Prepare accurate, timely reports and presentations; analyze data to resolve issues and select optimal solutions.
- Handle credit card ledger balancing and verify contracts for groups, including credit reference checks for direct billed groups if needed.
- Set and exceed performance, budget, and team objectives; submit punctual reports and maintain precise profit and loss documentation.
- Monitor tax compliance, ensuring all taxes due are collected or accrued properly.
- Maintain strong financial controls and complete period-end closing functions accurately.
- Guide and assist other departments regarding accounting, budgeting policies, and financial resource management.
- Demonstrate proficiency in job-specific knowledge including return check procedures, gross revenue reporting, write-offs, and deposit consolidations.
- Utilize computer systems and software to develop financial spreadsheets and process data.
- Lead and motivate accounting staff, setting deadlines, delegating tasks, and fostering a productive, culturally diverse work environment.
- Support employee development through mentoring, training, coaching, and counseling, including training on accounts receivable posting.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, peers, and subordinates through various channels and uphold personal integrity.
- Manage interpersonal conflicts and ensure relevant stakeholders are updated promptly.
- Exhibit strong organizational skills and apply problem-solving methods in decision making.
- Make collection calls when necessary.
