Role Overview

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Assistant Ecology Consultant to join our Bangalore office. This role encompasses authoring detailed ecological technical reports, analyzing bat acoustic data, and utilizing GIS technology for environmental assessments. Close collaboration with UK teams and adherence to strict timelines and methodologies are essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce comprehensive technical ecology reports.
• Analyze bat sound recordings using specialized software.
• Employ GIS tools for service desk studies, site scoping, protected species records, and biodiversity net gain evaluations.
• Work efficiently within project deadlines following established procedures.
• Collaborate as part of a multidisciplinary team and manage workload effectively.
• Engage in continual professional development to enhance technical expertise.
• Routine communication and coordination with UK counterparts.
• Support bid preparations and respond to project enquiries under guidance.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned by process leaders.

Candidate Profile

• Holder of a degree in ecology, environmental sciences, or environmental engineering.
• 2 to 4 years of relevant experience, preferably with exposure to UK ecological projects.
• Familiar with Anabat Insight and Kaleidoscope software for bat call analysis.
• Proficient in GIS platforms such as QGIS or ArcGIS.
• Understanding of UKHab classification system and Defra metric is desirable.
• Ability to interpret and critically analyze ecological data for reporting.
• Knowledge of UK and EU wildlife legislation, planning frameworks, and licensing needs.
• International project experience is advantageous.
• Project management skills covering technical, financial, and quality assurance aspects.
• Membership in the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) is required.
• Highly motivated with a proactive attitude aimed at technical excellence.
• Strong interpersonal skills, including communication, reporting, and presentation capabilities.
• Adaptable learner capable of managing multiple priorities independently or within a team.
• Organized in project execution with ability to follow direction and prioritize resource allocation.
• Awareness of budgetary impacts related to project timelines with proactive management.
• Ability to report challenges to management and willingness to share knowledge.
• Basic leadership skills in guiding small teams and compliance with health and safety protocols.
