About the Company
Sophie's Flats Inc. is an Ontario-based design and construction firm concentrating on accessory dwelling units (ADUs), which are standalone homes located in residential backyards. Their focus lies in broadening living spaces through designs that are practical, innovative, sustainable, and compliant with regulations. The firm oversees the complete workflow from initial design ideas through to permitting and construction.
Job Responsibilities
- Create comprehensive architectural drawings and 3D models tailored to ADU projects.
- Develop design concepts that integrate aesthetic appeal, functional requirements, and regulatory adherence.
- Prepare necessary paperwork to obtain permits and approvals.
- Collaborate with clients, engineering professionals, contractors, and internal teams to ensure project continuity.
- Undertake research on appropriate building materials, sustainable design strategies, and local building codes.
- Communicate designs effectively to clients and other stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- Possess a diploma or degree in architecture or architectural design.
- Demonstrate proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, or equivalent tools.
- Possess strong knowledge of Ontario's building codes, zoning laws, and permitting procedures.
- Display creativity, meticulous attention to detail, and strong problem-solving capabilities.
- Exhibit excellent communication and team collaboration skills.
- Prior experience or keen interest in residential architecture, particularly ADUs, is advantageous.
