Analyst/Associate - Equity Research, Restaurants

Role Overview

The Restaurants team within BofA Research is tasked with covering roughly two dozen publicly traded companies in the restaurant and foodservice distribution sectors. The team also evaluates private entities for potential initial public offerings (IPOs). This position demands a candidate who is analytically rigorous, intellectually driven, and passionate about continuous learning. Given the dynamic and fast-moving nature of the restaurant industry and frequent evaluations, strong skills in financial modeling and quantitative analysis are required. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities are essential. Preferred candidates will have backgrounds in sell-side research, investment banking, or roles involving complex data and statistical modeling.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute sophisticated financial models and valuation analyses.
• Develop and manage databases critical to research delivery.
• Identify unconventional data sources to enrich research.
• Provide prompt, effective responses to client queries.
• Author regular industry and company reports, including original initiations.
• Exhibit deep sector knowledge and sound business judgment.
• Collaborate with Senior Analysts to formulate main industry themes.
• Foster relationships with contacts at covered firms to promote information exchange.
• Engage actively in client meetings and industry events.
• Attend meetings with sector influencers and opinion leaders.
• Monitor and comprehend developments affecting markets, industries, and individual companies.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
• Minimum of one year experience in equity research, wholesale credit, buy side, or investment banking roles.
• Sharp attention to detail and capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Proficient in financial writing and complex modeling, highly skilled in MS Word and Excel.
• Ability to excel in a high-pressure, fast-paced work environment.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
• Enthusiastic about tracking stock markets and conducting both field and desktop research.
• Foundational knowledge in finance, accounting, economics, macroeconomic trends, international issues, and political/policy factors.
• Effective collaborator who thrives in team settings.

Working Hours

This role operates during the first shift within the United States, with an expected 40-hour work week.
