Accountant

About the Role

The Accountant will be based in Rosedale, Auckland, New Zealand, working in a hybrid model with in-office presence required on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Work-from-home days may be performed anywhere within New Zealand, subject to company requirements. This position will support the Finance Team handling Teletrac Navman's operations in New Zealand and Australia.

The role involves managing month-end close activities, financial reporting, maintaining the General Ledger, and preparing tax reports for Australian and New Zealand operations. Additionally, the Accountant will assist with audit preparations, management reporting, and various ad hoc financial projects. Teletrac Navman is currently undertaking process improvement initiatives, targeting the replacement of manual Excel processes, with a focus on enhancing month-end accounting workflows.

Key Responsibilities

• Participate as an integral part of the Finance Team, managing financial and management accounting for the ANZ region including month-end closure, fortnightly forecasts, weekly ACV reporting, and tax calculations for VAT, BAS, GST, and FBT.
• Serve as the custodian of the General Ledger, guaranteeing correct account usage and ensuring journal entries are accurate and adequately documented.
• Support bookkeeping and financial reporting tasks for the Australasia region, ensuring prompt and accurate monthly financial close.
• Analyze financial data critically to understand their accounting and business implications.
• Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce manual work.
• Provide accounting and analysis support as needed, including reconciliations.
• Offer guidance on accounting and finance matters within the team and the broader business context as part of the ANZ Finance team.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Qualified Chartered Accountant, CPA, or equivalent with at least five years of post-qualification experience.
• Proven experience in completing month-end closes with extensive journal entry posting.
• Familiarity with SAP, Oracle, or comparable ERP systems.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel including functions like sumifs, index/lookups, pivot tables, and report automation.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently.
• Demonstrated reliability and commitment to meeting deadlines.
• Technical knowledge of New Zealand or Australian tax and compliance is highly advantageous.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong team player able to collaborate towards shared goals and support colleagues.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, presenting challenges constructively and building productive relationships.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills appropriate for all organizational levels.
