Job Overview

The role of Yard Team Member is crucial to supporting smooth and safe operations within the boatyard. Responsibilities include launching and hauling vessels, managing yard logistics, and operating heavy machinery to ensure efficient handling of boats.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with hauling and launching boats safely and efficiently.
• Position and stabilize vessels using knowledge of size, weight, and distribution.
• Organize yard resources and coordinate with team members to resolve logistical challenges.
• Operate heavy equipment such as lift cranes, travel-lifts, marine railways, and forklifts to transport vessels.
• Maintain detailed logs covering load specifics, operating hours, distances moved, and fuel use.
• Perform boat bottom maintenance tasks including cleaning, sanding, painting, and waxing.
• Handle dock lines, fenders, and execute boat handling during yard operations.
• Conduct thorough inspections before, during, and after trips.
• Adhere to safety policies and maintain a clean, hazard-free work area; promptly report any safety or mechanical concerns.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Experience working in marine environments with launch and recovery duties.
• Capability to lift weights up to 50 pounds and remain on feet for extended durations.
• Valid driver’s license required; forklift certification considered a plus.
• Background check clearance mandatory.
• Proficiency in boat handling techniques.
• Competence with hand and power tools.
• Preferred experience operating heavy equipment like travel-lifts or marine railways.
