Job description
Role overview
This permanent full-time position is based in Broome and supports day-to-day pearling operations. The role is practical and varied, combining yard duties, logistics coordination, and general operational support in a busy outdoor environment.
Compensation and employment details
Annual pay for this position is $85,000.00. The role is offered as a permanent full-time job in Broome.
Key responsibilities
- Handle incoming and outgoing goods across yards and sheds.
- Assist with fleet and farm-related operational tasks.
- Cross-check invoices and freight documents against purchase orders.
- Work with vessel skippers to organise loading and unloading.
- Help unload vessels and move crew at the Broome Jetty.
- Transport boats to and from the ramp.
- Collect and deliver goods as needed.
- Keep yards and sheds tidy, safe, and well organised.
- Support cyclone readiness activities.
- Look after company vehicles and ensure they remain in good condition.
- Take part in monthly stocktakes.
- Assist with general workshop tasks.
- Support loading and unloading of seaplanes.
- Make sure staff are prepared for departures.
- Help coordinate staff movement, including trips to 80 Mile and Gourdon Bay.
- Provide logistical support during evacuations when required.
- Carry out basic equipment repairs and maintenance.
- Complete any other duties assigned by the Broome Operations Manager.
About you
You should be dependable, self-motivated, and comfortable taking initiative. This position suits someone who works well both alone and with others, stays organised, pays close attention to detail, and is happy performing physically active outdoor work. A tidy and professional appearance is also important.
Licences and requirements
- Current driver’s licence; HR licence and F endorsement are preferred.
- Forklift licence.
- ASIC and MSIC, or a willingness to obtain them.
Work environment
The role involves hands-on yard work and operational support in a fast-moving setting. It includes outdoor physical tasks and coordination across vessels, vehicles, sheds, jetty operations, and other logistics activities.
