Role overview

Busways is hiring a Yard Assistant (Maintenance) for its Blacktown Depot in New South Wales. The position suits someone with basic to intermediate mechanical understanding who can support workshop tradespeople and the wider maintenance team in keeping the fleet in safe, reliable condition.

Pay and earning potential

  • Hourly base rate: $30.70.
  • Indicative earning potential of up to $65,000+ per year, including reasonable overtime loading, allowances and superannuation.
  • Annual leave loading of 17.5%.

Key duties

The role supports day-to-day upkeep of the depot, yard and workshop environment, while also assisting with practical maintenance tasks and deliveries as directed by the Workshop Manager or Supervisor.

What the role involves

  • Keeping the yard clean and mowing lawns when needed.
  • Emptying bins in the workshop and depot yard.
  • Collecting and delivering parts and other items as instructed.
  • Helping with building maintenance tasks such as gutter cleaning and painting.
  • Maintaining gardens and depot grounds.
  • Taking on ad hoc work and other assigned duties as required.

Training and development

All required training will be provided. This includes guidance on the different vehicle makes and models used by the business, along with the standards needed to meet contract obligations.

  • Must hold a current unrestricted Australian driver’s licence issued in the relevant state.

Highly regarded

  • Medium Rigid (MR) licence or higher.
