Workday Finance Consultant

Overview

An established enterprise applications team is looking for a seasoned Workday Finance Consultant to help deliver, refine, and continuously improve a large Workday Financial Management landscape. The position sits within a complex organisation in the middle of major digital change and covers implementation, configuration, support, process improvement, and business transformation work.

In this role, you will serve as a functional subject-matter expert, partnering with business stakeholders, technical specialists, and external delivery teams to keep the Workday finance environment effective, scalable, and aligned to operational needs.

Core Responsibilities

• Bring hands-on functional knowledge across Workday Financial Management areas such as General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Expenses, Fixed Assets, Projects, and Financial Reporting.
• Configure, maintain, and improve Workday Financials capabilities.
• Review, diagnose, and resolve incidents, service requests, and platform issues.
• Handle support queues and prioritise requests in SLA-led service environments.
• Perform root cause analysis and put durable fixes in place for repeat problems.
• Collect, evaluate, and document business needs.
• Run workshops and discussions with stakeholders to clarify requirements and options.
• Convert business needs into functional designs and configuration details.
• Contribute to business process enhancement and wider transformation efforts.
• Create clear functional documentation and change documentation.
• Assist with testing across system testing, integration testing, and user acceptance testing.
• Work alongside technical teams, integration experts, and third-party partners.
• Support releases, new enhancements, and the handover into day-to-day operational support.

Required Experience

• Demonstrated experience with Workday Financial Management.
• Background in Workday configuration, implementation, optimisation, or application support.
• Strong understanding of finance processes from end to end.
• Experience with ERP and SaaS environments.
• Ability to gather requirements and perform business analysis.
• Experience producing functional designs and written documentation.
• Working knowledge of incident handling and ITSM practices.
• Experience in Agile, SAFe, or hybrid delivery models.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders.
• Exposure to testing and release activities.

Nice-to-Have Experience

• Exposure to Workday Reporting and Analytics.
• Experience with Workday Integrations.
• Familiarity with Oracle E-Business Suite.
• Knowledge of Oracle Fusion Cloud.
• Background in ERP transformation programmes.
• Experience supporting data migration work.
• Involvement in service improvement initiatives.
• Previous workstream leadership experience.

This is a full-time, onsite opportunity based in South East, South-East District, Botswana.
