Job description
Primark is seeking a talented Designer to join our Women's Accessories team in Dublin. In this pivotal role, you will contribute significantly to our product strategy by identifying key seasonal trends, collaborating with suppliers to develop exceptional products, and working strategically with Buying and Merchandising teams to create exciting new ranges for our target customers. You will be instrumental in driving the success of your department by staying ahead of global trends, developing innovative colour palettes, and exploring new fabrications. As a collaborative and strategic designer, you will partner with B&M, sourcing, and technical teams to identify growth opportunities and enhance product offerings in line with Primark’s strategic vision. You will also serve as a leader within the BMD community, inspiring junior team members and fostering collaboration across wider Primark teams to elevate our product and market position.
What You’ll Do- Research and define globally relevant trend directions for women's accessories, utilizing forecasting tools, data analytics, and customer insights to shape commercial ranges.
- Lead seasonal colour palette development and drive innovation in materials, trims, hardware, and construction techniques to create distinctive products.
- Manage the complete design and development lifecycle for bags, footwear, and accessories, from initial concept to final approval.
- Curate commercially viable, customer-centric ranges that align with brand identity, category objectives, and a clear product structure.
- Lead, manage, and mentor a team of designers, establishing high standards for product quality, efficiency, and work methodologies.
- Collaborate effectively with Buying, Merchandising, Technical, Sourcing, supplier, and Brand teams to ensure consistent and high-quality product execution.
You will work closely with Primark’s Buying and Merchandising departments, and liaise with other Design teams across all product categories to ensure a cohesive design vision. You will present your categories and ranges for approval at leadership meetings and represent your product areas in cross-functional working groups and forums to facilitate alignment and decision-making.
What You’ll Bring- Extensive experience in accessories design, with a minimum of 7 years in design roles and demonstrated people management or team leadership experience.
- In-depth specialist knowledge of accessories, footwear, or bags, including a thorough understanding of materials, construction, and the end-to-end product development process.
- A proven history of delivering commercially successful, high-volume ranges by effectively translating seasonal trends into customer-focused products.
- Exceptional leadership, coaching, and mentoring abilities, with a strong capacity to influence, develop, and inspire design teams.
- Proficient stakeholder and supplier management skills, complemented by confident communication, presentation capabilities, and a knack for cross-functional collaboration.
- A proactive, well-organized, and accountable approach, capable of thriving in fast-paced environments while managing multiple priorities with sound judgment and integrity.
