About Bristol Formula Student AI

Bristol Formula Student AI (FSAI) is an autonomous racing team from the University of Bristol that designs, constructs, and races fully autonomous vehicles. The team combines cutting-edge AI, robotics, and real-world engineering systems to compete in the Formula Student AI competition.

Role Overview

This position is specially available to University of Bristol students pursuing degrees in Computer Science, Engineering, or related areas. As a Web Developer, you will play a key role in maintaining and enhancing the FSAI public website and associated internal tools that support communication, recruitment, and showcasing the team’s work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update the website’s content including posts, events, team information, and opportunities.
  • Create new pages and features using Next.js and Tailwind CSS frameworks.
  • Ensure the website remains fast, accessible, and responsive across devices.
  • Work collaboratively with various sub-teams to publish updates, news, events, and media efficiently.
  • Maintain design consistency and overall polished user experience throughout the site.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Current student at University of Bristol studying Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields.
  • Proficient with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Experience or familiarity with React or Next.js frameworks.
  • Comfortable using Git for source control and collaboration.
  • Keen attention to detail and commitment to consistent design.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work well within a team environment.

While candidates are not required to meet all qualifications, a strong motivation to learn and apply web development skills to a live, user-facing product is highly encouraged.

Additional Desirable Skills

  • Knowledge of Tailwind CSS and responsive web design techniques.
  • Experience working with Markdown-based content workflows.
  • Basic understanding of SEO principles and web accessibility best practices.
  • Experience in deploying or maintaining web applications.
