Role overview
As a Waste Management Coordinator, you will be responsible for managing waste across the DWF workshop and jetties, while ensuring that waste handling, disposal, recycling, and related processes comply with UAE regulations.
Key duties
- Handle all waste streams generated in the DWF workshop and jetties.
- Supervise facility-wide waste collection, disposal, recycling, and regulatory compliance.
- Make sure hazardous and non-hazardous waste are segregated, stored, and handled correctly.
- Create and roll out waste management policies, procedures, and programs.
- Track waste disposal and recycling results and identify ways to reduce waste generation.
- Carry out routine audits and site checks to verify compliance with environmental rules.
- Liaise with contractors and vendors for waste removal and disposal services.
- Train employees on correct waste handling and disposal practices.
- Keep complete records and prepare reports related to waste disposal activities.
- Stay current with applicable waste regulations and ensure all activities remain compliant.
- Partner with the sustainability team on waste reduction and recycling initiatives.
- Support the QHSSE department whenever needed.
Skills and requirements
- Strong understanding of waste management laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Good planning, organization, and time management abilities.
- Capability to review waste data and produce clear reports.
- Strong written and verbal communication for dealing with staff, vendors, and regulators.
- Problem-solving ability to resolve waste handling and disposal issues.
- Familiarity with hazardous material handling and environmental health and safety standards.
- Ability to design and implement waste minimization initiatives.
- High attention to detail for documentation and compliance tracking.
- Comfort using waste management software and related tools.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
- Leadership and training skills to guide waste-related activities and educate teams.
