Randstad Australia is working with ALPA (Arnhem Land Progress Aboriginal Corporation), the largest First Nations corporation in Australia. ALPA supports more than 1,400 employees across 26 remote communities and focuses on building economic independence and expanding opportunities for First Nations people. This role is more than store management; it is a chance to contribute to the social and economic growth of remote communities in the Northern Territory and Queensland.
What the role involves
As a Store Manager Couple, you will jointly lead a remote supermarket and play a central role in the community. The position combines retail leadership with mentoring local staff and helping the store operate efficiently and responsibly.
- Take charge of day-to-day store operations and the financial performance of ALPA supermarkets in remote locations
- Support, coach, and develop local team members to strengthen community capability
- Put ALPA’s nutrition policy into action by encouraging healthier purchasing choices
- Work alongside merchandising and nutrition teams to maintain strong stock and service standards
- Coordinate with community leaders so the store reflects local needs
- Keep the retail environment running well through effective inventory control and rostering
Candidate profile
The organisation is seeking a resilient and culturally aware leadership pair with experience in fast-paced retail environments and a strong interest in developing people.
- At least 3 years of retail management experience is required
- Practical knowledge of retail systems such as POS, inventory management, and staff scheduling is needed
- Certificate III in Retail is preferred, or a willingness to complete it within the first 12 months of employment
- Ability to adapt and perform well in remote or regional settings
- Strong people skills and a genuine commitment to cultural awareness
- Demonstrated ability to lead a diverse team and contribute to positive community outcomes
Mandatory requirements
- Applicants must have full working rights in Australia
- Ability to secure the required remote clearances, including WWCC and Ochre Card
- A current Australian driver’s licence is required
- For couple applications, both resumes must be combined into one document
