Job description
Role overview
This position is responsible for supporting and improving waste management operations for a major energy organization in Doha. The role ensures that waste handling practices remain compliant with applicable local, national, and international requirements while maintaining safe, dependable, and environmentally responsible operations.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and monitor waste collection, transport, storage, and disposal activities, and oversee the daily running of waste management facilities and related operations.
- Help design, maintain, and roll out the company’s waste management systems, strategy, and corporate procedures, including operating instructions, work guides, and supporting records.
- Work closely with assets and operations teams to align waste activities with site planning, execution schedules, and maintenance requirements.
- Apply waste management and safety requirements across field locations and facilities, participate in safety reviews when needed, and confirm that equipment under the role’s control is operating efficiently with proper safeguards in place.
- Offer technical input for waste treatment planning and execution, including routine site visits and hands-on follow-up of work in progress.
- Support turnaround activities by preparing for mobilization, arranging additional contractor manpower when needed, and helping to provide 24-hour service coverage.
- Coordinate with waste management contractors to support operational performance and resolve contract-related matters.
- Review contractor method statements, job safety analyses, permits, waste management plans, and department invoices.
- Assist in building and delivering waste management awareness initiatives to strengthen organizational performance.
- Maintain complete waste management records, correspondence, and documentation according to company standards.
Qualifications and experience
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering or science is required.
- At least 6 years of experience in environmental or waste management work is needed.
- Of this, 3 years should be within oil and gas waste management.
- The candidate should have a strong working understanding of environmental and waste management concerns.
Additional information
The role involves regular coordination with internal teams, contractor oversight, site-based operational support, and participation in safety-related reviews and implementation activities. It also includes maintaining documentation and supporting department-level reporting and procedures.
