Job description
Overview
This role focuses on the receipt, issue, and shipment preparation of hazardous materials in a warehouse environment.
Core Duties
- Use DSS/WMS and other government systems to carry out the requirements outlined in the PWS.
- Handle the Materials Examiner and Identifier function, including identifying items, conducting examinations, classifying material, accepting or rejecting stock, and assigning condition codes across all material classes, including but not limited to Class II, III, and IX.
- Move materials on and off skids, pallets, and stands.
- Use tools and equipment to complete daily work tasks.
- Operate Material Handling Equipment when assigned and maintain the required license.
- Count, weigh, record information, and attach tags and labels.
- Apply basic inspection and examination methods for materials.
- Interpret specifications, drawings, prints, schematics, and photographs.
- Prepare reports related to distribution activities.
- Carry out preventive maintenance adjustments on related equipment.
- Complete other assigned duties involving hazardous materials.
Education and Experience
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- At least 3 years of direct experience in hazardous material distribution and warehousing, using DSS/WMS or a similar warehouse management system, within the last 5 years.
- Ability to obtain a license to operate Material Handling Equipment.
- Working knowledge of the Distribution Standard System and other automated distribution platforms used at the site.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and email/business software.
- A cooperative attitude and the ability to work well in a team.
- Capacity to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced setting while maintaining strong attention to detail.
Certifications and Training
- Successful completion of OSHA compliance training and Hazardous Materials Preparer Certification is required.
- Training under DTR Part II, Cargo Movement, Chapter 204-7 is required.
- DLAI 4145.3 training for preparing hazardous material for military air shipment is required.
- DLAI 1307 HAZMAT training for packaging and transportation personnel must be completed before full performance begins.
Security and Clearance
This position requires U.S. citizenship and the ability to pass a U.S. government background check.
Physical Requirements
The job may involve occasional standing, walking, sitting, using hands or fingers to handle objects and controls, operating office equipment, reaching, climbing stairs, balancing, stooping, kneeling, speaking, hearing, and tasting or smelling. The role also requires the ability to occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds.
Work Environment
Work is performed in indoor and outdoor warehouse areas as well as in an office setting. Seasonal conditions in Bahrain can be hot and humid.
