Role Overview

DB Fahrwegdienste GmbH is looking for a Wagenmeister:in (w/m/d) for the Erfurt site, with the option to work from Nürnberg as well. The role is available as soon as possible. Deutsche Bahn offers opportunities for both experienced professionals and people beginning their careers, along with many entry-level and development paths across Germany.

Key Tasks

  • Prepare train operation documentation, including wagon lists and brake sheets.
  • Carry out wagon technical inspections and report any irregularities.
  • Perform assigned work in line with the applicable rules and procedures.
  • Handle running-capability checks and damaged-wagon management as part of the daily routine.
  • Inspect rented wagons when they are returned.

Profile and Requirements

  • Completed technical vocational training, for example as an industrial mechanic, ideally in a metalworking occupation, together with additional training as a freight wagon inspector; qualifications as a train conductor or shunting assistant for construction operations are also welcome.
  • Good knowledge of the required regulations and practical experience in railway operations.
  • Experience in track construction is considered an advantage.
  • Willingness to work at changing locations across Germany, including weekends and rotating shifts, night shifts included.
  • Valid Class B driving licence is mandatory for the assignment.

Equal Opportunity Statement

The employer places strong emphasis on equal opportunities and actively promotes diversity and inclusion. Applications are welcomed regardless of gender, nationality, ethnic or social background, religion, belief, disability, age, length of unemployment, sexual orientation, or identity. Applicants with severe disabilities and those treated as equivalent are given preference when equally qualified.

Benefits

  • Work locations are available throughout Germany, in major cities as well as smaller towns and communities.
  • A market-standard compensation package is offered, usually with permanent employment, job security, and additional benefits including a company pension plan.
  • Strong collective-agreement conditions, flexible working time models, a family-friendly culture, and practical support are provided to help balance work and family life.

Additional Information

The organization is hiring for more than 500 different professions across Germany and welcomes both experienced specialists and career starters. Equal treatment and respectful cooperation are firmly embedded principles within the DB group. Candidates with severe disabilities or equivalent status are considered preferentially when qualifications are equal.
