Job description
Company Overview
Brainy Bairn School offers a lively and demanding learning setting designed to deliver strong educational outcomes for young children. The school emphasizes the all-round growth of every child, with attention to moral, spiritual, social, emotional, and physical development. Its learning philosophy aims to prepare children to international standards, while its day-to-day culture is grounded in a Christian foundation. Values such as cooperation, humility, responsibility, integrity, success, and trust guide relationships and expectations across the school community.
Role Summary
The Vice Principal for Early Years is a full-time leadership position based on site in Accra. This person will lead the Early Years department, helping to ensure that the school’s teaching approach remains child-focused, values-led, and aligned with its broader mission.
Key Duties
The role involves supporting the rollout of the curriculum, overseeing teaching staff, and checking that classroom practices reflect the school’s vision and standards. The Vice Principal will track learners’ academic growth as well as their social and emotional development, support teachers with instructional methods, and coordinate assessments and reporting for families.
Day-to-day work also includes handling schedules, addressing operational challenges, helping maintain a safe and supportive environment, and keeping steady communication with parents and guardians. In addition, the role requires mentoring teachers, arranging professional development activities, and working closely with the Principal and wider leadership team on school-wide projects and policy execution.
Qualifications and Expectations
Applicants should bring proven leadership experience in early childhood or primary education, including team supervision and academic programme management. Strong capability in curriculum design, classroom observation, and coaching teachers is important, along with solid communication and people skills for working with children, families, and colleagues.
Candidates should be comfortable managing school operations such as timetabling, resource use, and safety standards. Experience in fostering a positive school culture that reflects cooperation, humility, responsibility, integrity, success, and trust is also important. A Bachelor’s degree in Education, Early Childhood Education, or a related area is expected; a Master’s degree or extra leadership certification would be an advantage.
The ideal candidate should understand international standards and assessment practices in Early Years education, be able to support staff development through feedback and training, and be willing to contribute within a Christian educational setting while working respectfully with people from different backgrounds. Strong organisation, problem-solving ability, and resilience in a busy school environment are essential.
