Position Details
We are seeking a Level 3 Vehicle Service Technician to join Lookers Braintree Ford & ORA. This is a full-time, permanent role based in Braintree, England. You will work alongside a skilled team of 11 technicians and 3 apprentices within our workshop, playing an essential part in vehicle health checks, servicing, and repair tasks using up-to-date diagnostic technology.
Working Hours and Compensation
The role involves 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, plus one Saturday morning on a three-week rotation. The remuneration package includes a basic salary ranging between £34,000 and £37,000, with an On-Target Earnings (OTE) reaching up to £52,480. Additional bonuses of £3,000 for productivity and a Time Saved Bonus Scheme complement the pay.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform pre-delivery inspections on new and used vehicles.
- Execute vehicle checks aligned with manufacturers’ standards.
- Fit customer-requested accessories.
- Conduct thorough vehicle health checks and recommend additional work as needed.
- Inspect lights, tire pressures, and mechanical and electrical systems.
- Carry out minor repairs on vehicles.
- Apply basic mechanical and electrical diagnostic skills.
- Complete vehicle servicing according to manufacturer guidelines and customer instructions.
- Authorize and perform additional repairs post-customer approval.
- Manage warranty repairs in line with manufacturer requirements and complete detailed documentation.
- Conduct road tests to ensure all issues are resolved satisfactorily.
- Maintain high-standard paperwork and service records.
Candidate Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess at least an NVQ Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or an equivalent qualification, have relevant industry experience, and hold a valid UK driving license. Candidates should be self-driven, collaborative team members, keen to learn, and committed to maintaining excellent vehicle standards. Although prior brand-specific experience is beneficial, it is not mandatory as brand and advanced training, including Hybrid and Electric vehicle training, will be provided. Experience with diagnostics, MOT, and electric vehicles is advantageous but not essential.
