Job description
About the Company
Moniepoint Inc. is an all-in-one financial services platform serving both businesses and individuals across Africa with payments, banking, credit, cross-border solutions, and tools for managing business operations. The company supports 20 million users each month and is Nigeria’s biggest merchant acquirer, powering most POS transactions in the country. Across its subsidiaries, it handles more than $250 billion in annual digital payment transaction value.
Role Summary
In this position, you will work as a UX researcher supporting a seasoned research team. Your main focus will be to uncover the reasons behind user behaviour so the product team can design experiences that feel intuitive, useful, and relevant for people in Nigeria. The role is ideal for someone with strong curiosity, a desire to learn research fundamentals, and an interest in helping build simple financial products that improve everyday life.
Core Responsibilities
You will help plan and run both qualitative and quantitative studies, including interviews and surveys. The job also involves managing research operations such as sourcing participants and coordinating schedules. You will support interview and usability testing sessions, capture meaningful insights, and help convert findings into clear outputs such as reports, journey maps, and personas. Another key part of the role is keeping the research library organised so the wider organisation can easily access findings. You will work closely with designers and product managers to ensure research informs every phase of product development, while staying updated on emerging UX tools and techniques.
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking someone with 2–3 years of experience in UX research, market research, or a related discipline focused on understanding people and behaviour. You should know the basics of research methods and be comfortable using digital tools such as Maze, Typeform, or Google Forms, while being eager to learn new platforms. Strong analytical thinking is important, along with the ability to identify patterns and connect insights from different sources.
Preferred Background
Extra advantage will go to candidates who are interested in fintech and the ways digital products are reshaping lives across Africa. Experience in a startup or other fast-moving environment is also valued, as is an educational background in social sciences, psychology, or design.
About You
The ideal candidate is highly curious and persistent, with a natural habit of asking questions until the problem is fully understood. You should be comfortable approaching challenges from multiple angles and thinking creatively when looking for answers. A friendly and approachable style is important because you will help participants feel relaxed and open during research sessions. You should also be disciplined, accurate, and well organised, with a strong commitment to clean data and precise note-taking. Interest in the Nigerian market and how people engage with money locally will be especially relevant.
Success in This Role
Success will look like smooth-running research projects, thanks to proactive participant recruitment and logistics management. Within the first six months, you are expected to become capable of independently handling foundational research sessions. You will also help maintain a research repository that serves as a reliable source of truth for the product team, while consistently producing documentation that stakeholders find clear and useful.
Application Guidance
Applicants should share a resume that highlights relevant research experience, the methods used, research workflow, and the effect of their work on user experience and business results. A PDF portfolio is optional, but it is welcome because it can showcase case studies and provide more detail on your end-to-end approach and how your research influenced product decisions.
Hiring Process
- Resume screening focused on research process, methods, and measurable impact.
- Technical discussion with a senior researcher to explore your experience, approach, and mission alignment.
- Case study presentation to a panel, demonstrating problem-solving ability, research craft, and strategic thinking.
- Final executive discussion about growth potential, influence, and contribution to both user and business outcomes.
