UX Designer, Google Maps

About the Role

As a UX Designer specializing in interaction design, you will be instrumental in simplifying complex tasks into intuitive, user-friendly experiences for billions worldwide. Your work will range from conceptualizing user flows and wireframes to developing detailed mockups and prototypes, bringing product experiences to life with elegance and innovation. You will collaborate closely with engineering and product management teams, utilizing user feedback to craft market-leading products.

The Geo team is dedicated to delivering the most precise, comprehensive maps and navigation tools through products such as Maps, Earth, Street View, and the Google Maps Platform. Over a billion users depend on these services monthly to explore and navigate their environment. This team also empowers developers by integrating Google Maps into their applications. The role involves addressing complex computer science challenges, designing visually appealing and intuitive products, and expanding our understanding of real world geography.

Key Responsibilities

• Work jointly with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders across multiple locations including Bengaluru, Sydney, and Singapore to gather requirements and deliver creative, effective design solutions.
• Present user experience concepts at various design phases through wireframes, flowcharts, storyboards, mockups, and high-fidelity prototypes.
• Incorporate user feedback and align business needs into continuous updates of the product's user interface.
• Promote and prioritize design-focused modifications and enhancements throughout the development lifecycle.
• Take leadership and ownership of critical components of the product's user experience, particularly focusing on Transit Growth in Emerging Markets.

Candidate Qualifications

• Essential: Possess a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical expertise.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in interaction design within product design or UX design fields.
• Submission of a portfolio, personal website, or other demonstrable work samples is required with application materials.
• Preferred: Master's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• At least 2 years of experience in a complex, cross-functional organizational environment.
• Minimum 1 year leading design projects.
