Role overview
This position is centered on handling U.S. payroll operations and related activities in a Workday-based environment. The role calls for a professional with 6 to 8 years of experience in U.S. payroll, including both on-cycle and off-cycle processing, employee management, systems support, and the ability to prepare reports in Workday. A willingness to work night shifts is essential.
The role is based in Pune District, Maharashtra, India, with a fully office-based work setup.
Key responsibilities
- Run on-cycle and off-cycle payroll processing for the U.S. payroll function.
- Apply strong knowledge of U.S. payroll practices while working in Workday.
- Support employee-related payroll tasks, system coordination, and operational follow-ups.
- Work toward defined productivity and output targets for the business line.
- Track missing or critical information and follow up with the right stakeholders to complete processing.
- Communicate clearly with clients and internal/external partners to keep work moving smoothly.
- Coordinate with the on-site team and vendors to resolve issues quickly in line with SOPs.
- Be prepared to extend shift hours when needed to meet scheduled delivery commitments.
- Operate in a 100% work-from-office model.
Requirements and expectations
- 6 to 8 years of hands-on experience in U.S. payroll with Workday.
- Strong understanding of payroll processing, including regular and off-cycle runs.
- Ability to create and manage reports in Workday.
- Comfortable working in U.S. shift hours: 5:30 pm to 3:30 am, or 6:30 pm to 4:30 am during daylight saving time.
- Must be willing to extend the shift if delivery timelines require it.
- Good communication skills for coordination with clients and stakeholders.
- Analytical thinking, questioning, negotiating, and influencing skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, adapt to changing needs, and meet daily or weekly targets.
- Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to service quality.
- Basic keyboard skills and the ability to multitask while handling calls.
- Team-oriented approach with attention to assigned accounts and process goals.
- Willingness to work night shifts as required by the client.
Preferred background
- U.S. B1 or B2 visa is an added advantage.
