Job description
About Fair Ways
Fair Ways is a children’s services charity operating in the Solent area. Its work spans fostering, education, residential services, and family support, and it supports more than 400 children, families, young people, and vulnerable adults every year. The organisation is guided by a strong values-led approach and focuses on creating a lasting positive impact rather than prioritising profit.
Role overview
The school is seeking an Unqualified PSHE Teacher to join its Eastleigh-based setting. The role supports young people with additional needs, particularly learners with Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC). Students are typically taught in highly individualised 1:1 or 2:1 settings with a curriculum tailored to their specific needs. Many have experienced prolonged interruptions to education and may have previously struggled in mainstream or specialist provisions.
What the role involves
- Planning and delivering personalised lessons, assessing work, and adapting teaching methods to suit different learner needs.
- Supporting young people to create pathways into employment, education, and training, and helping them work towards those goals through structured programme delivery.
- Taking part in student assessment processes and helping track attainment, progress, and outcomes in the subject area.
- Supporting the delivery of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Personal Education Plans (PEPs) by supplying data, setting targets, and contributing to lesson planning.
- Working with employers, colleges, universities, and training providers to widen opportunities for students.
- Building awareness of how early-life experiences can influence behaviour, and being open to learning more about these factors.
- Using positive handling techniques when needed to help keep incidents safe and working consistently as part of a team.
Requirements and additional conditions
Applicants must hold a full driving licence and have access to a car. An enhanced DBS disclosure is required, and Fair Ways will pay for the disclosure cost. The organisation cannot provide visa sponsorship for this position, so applicants must be able to show proof of the right to work in the UK.
Qualifications and background
Experience and qualifications are welcomed but are not the only route into the role. Fair Ways notes that strong alignment with its values, together with its internal training and development support, can help people from unrelated backgrounds succeed.
Candidates are required to have, or be working towards, at least the following level of qualification: A Level or equivalent. They should also have specialist knowledge of a function, trade, or craft gained through advanced formal training, such as BTEC National Certificate, ONC level, A Level, Scottish Highers in a relevant discipline, or an equivalent advanced craft qualification such as City & Guilds Level 3 or NVQ Level 3.
Benefits
- Access to staff lotteries with prizes such as £1000 holiday vouchers, weekends away, luxury hampers, and a £1000 fostering referral scheme with vouchers.
- Holiday Accrual Scheme, one additional annual leave day as a wellbeing day, and the option to buy up to 5 extra days of leave.
- Health and wellbeing support through Simply Health, an Employee Assistance Scheme, emergency financial help, and 24/7 counselling.
- Early Pay access, allowing part of your salary to be taken early each month for unexpected needs.
- Education Grant support for qualifications up to master’s level, plus leadership courses for career growth.
- Team-building days, summer festivals, wellbeing initiatives, discounted gym memberships, and a cycle-to-work scheme.
- Annual Staff Awards, Long Service Awards, a pension scheme, and eligibility for a Blue Light Card.
- An inclusive workplace with a diverse workforce and a supportive community culture.

Benefits may vary depending on the type of contract. The organisation invites people who want to make a meaningful difference and contribute to brighter futures to apply.
