About the role
Zurich is looking for an Underwriter to help grow and strengthen its Financial Lines portfolio in New Zealand. This position focuses on building a profitable, sustainable book of business while keeping the customer experience at the centre of underwriting decisions. You will also work closely with the Liability team to support the development of this line of business across the market.

Key responsibilities
- Support underwriting activity that drives growth across the Financial Lines portfolio.
- Assist with the development and expansion of the Liability business throughout New Zealand.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers, partners, and market stakeholders.
- Contribute to planning, business development, and ongoing process improvements.
- Use underwriting systems, technology, and data insights to produce quality outcomes.
- Work within established guidelines and timeframes to achieve performance goals.
What you’ll bring
- Background in underwriting or broking within Financial Lines, Liability, or a related area.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, and commercial judgement.
- Capability to manage a portfolio and make sound decisions within clear frameworks.
- Track record of building trusted relationships with brokers, colleagues, and partners.
- Comfort using technology, data, and underwriting tools to support decisions.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work independently and in a team.
