Role overview

This position is for an experienced Mortgage Underwriter who will assess mortgage files, review supporting documents, and underwrite deals from across Canada. You will collaborate with the Mortgage Sales team and external brokers to identify practical solutions for customers while helping deliver a broad range of financing products alongside a strong customer experience.

What you will do

  • Assess complex, high-value mortgage applications, including files involving unusual borrower situations or property types.
  • Move mortgage deals from application through funding, with support from the mortgage financial operations team.
  • Communicate clearly with Sales, mortgage brokers, and internal and external stakeholders so they understand timelines, expectations, and documentation requirements.
  • Coordinate status updates for active mortgage files with Sales, MFOs, Coordinators, and third-party brokers.
  • Use a practical, solution-oriented approach to make sound decisions on challenging mortgage cases, including document review where needed.
  • Build expertise in the company’s products, services, tools, technology, and Salesforce CRM features.
  • Stay up to date with current industry developments to help maintain a competitive edge.

What you need

  • At least 2 years of mortgage underwriting experience in the Canadian market.
  • Strong drive for growth and high performance in a startup setting.
  • Excellent client service mindset and strong personal energy.
  • Highly effective verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Very strong organization and time management skills.

Additional details

The role is preferably based in office when practical, but remote applicants outside commuting distance from an office may also be considered. Working hours may occasionally fall outside a standard Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm MST schedule, depending on business needs.
