About the Role
This is a temporary, part-time support staff opportunity replacing a bargaining unit employee. The assignment is scheduled to begin in July 2026 and conclude in September 2027. The role reports to the Dean, Global Engagement & Academic Services, is based onsite in Sarnia, Ontario, and requires 24 hours of work per week at $26.05 per hour.
The successful candidate will support tutors administratively, deliver strong service to students and the broader college community, and help strengthen academic support services that contribute to student retention and success.
Key Duties
- Act as the initial contact for tutoring-related questions from students, faculty, staff, prospective students, and others in the college community.
- Handle general office administration such as maintaining shared computer drives, typing, ordering and tracking supplies, updating contact lists, and organizing files and records.
- Develop, refresh, and maintain tutor onboarding materials, training guides, and manuals.
- Prepare and update communication pieces that promote Tutoring Services, including posters, presentation slides, PowerPoint decks, and e-newsletters.
- Support the orientation and training of new tutors on the tutoring reservation platform.
- Assist with day-to-day oversight of the tutoring reservation system.
- Arrange appointments, meetings, workshops, and other calendar-based activities.
- At busier points in the academic cycle, provide support to the Academic Materials Coordinator by tracking requisitions, locating missing information, updating spreadsheets and databases, and preparing documents tied to textbook, ILM, and program kit ordering cycles.
- Carry out additional related tasks as needed.
Qualifications
- A minimum of a two-year post-secondary diploma is required.
- At least two years of experience delivering advanced customer service is needed.
- Prior administrative support experience in a busy office setting is required.
- Strong customer service capability and a professional, student-focused approach are essential.
- Comfort working with Microsoft Office and other standard office technology is necessary.
- The role calls for solid time management skills to handle peak-period workload demands.
- Excellent organization, deadline management, and careful attention to detail are required.
Employment Details
This position is temporary and part-time, with an onsite work arrangement in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada. It covers a 24-hour weekly schedule and pays $26.05 per hour. The start date is July 2026 and the assignment ends in September 2027. The role replaces a bargaining unit employee.
