TSF Supervisor

Position Overview

The TSF Supervisor oversees compliance with global industry standards and best practices for Tailings Management Systems (TMS) at the site level, reporting to the Capital Project Foreman within the Engineering Department. Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Ensure adherence to all company policies and procedural guidelines related to tailings management.
• Coordinate tailings governance efforts through the Accountable Executive for operational consistency.
• Implement the Tailings Management Standard, particularly Section 2.3.
• Develop and propose budgets with input from relevant personnel for approval by the accountable authority.
• Design an organizational framework assigning clear roles and responsibilities matching operational needs.
• Maintain formal collaboration with Engineers of Record (EOR) and Design Teams to guarantee construction and operations meet design and legal requirements.
• Oversee surveillance operations aligned with design intent, performance goals, and risk management plans.
• Lead the development and application of tailings facility closure strategies, including progressive reclamation during operation and final closure at end of operation.
• Preserve comprehensive records concerning design, construction, and operational management systems.
• Conduct inspections, including dam safety reviews and daily surveillance reports.
• Regularly review and update Operational Manual Specifications (OMS).
• Develop, maintain, and test emergency response plans related to tailings, integrated with site-wide safety protocols.
• Address deviations from established performance criteria with corrective actions.
• Administer safety review programs with independent assessments.
• Identify potential operational changes diverging from design intent and collaborate with EOR or design teams for change management.
• Engage in community relations activities relevant to tailings management.
• Continuously monitor and seek improvements in civil earthwork efficiencies on the dam structure.
• Track data from vibrating wire piezometers installed on the dam.
• Prioritize health and safety concerns in all facets of work.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering.
• Strong knowledge of soil structure properties including compaction and consolidation testing methods.
• Minimum of three years in a Civil Engineering capacity, preferably within the mining sector.
• Prior involvement in tailings dam project engineering is a desirable asset.
