Job description
Role Purpose
The Treasury Specialist is responsible for managing the organization's cash flow, liquidity, and financial risk. This position ensures adequate funds are available for both daily operations and strategic initiatives, while also aiming to maximize investment returns and minimize financial exposures. The Treasury Specialist will collaborate closely with finance operations, financial planning & analysis teams, and other business units to ensure efficient treasury operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Generate daily cash position reports and develop short to medium-term liquidity forecasts to guarantee sufficient funds for operational and strategic needs.
- Create and maintain comprehensive cash flow projections for short, medium, and long-term horizons.
- Optimize cash utilization across various accounts and subsidiaries, ensuring adherence to all regulatory requirements and established standards.
- Manage daily interactions with banks and financial institutions, negotiate credit facilities, and ensure compliance with loan covenants and reporting obligations.
- Conduct timely and accurate daily/monthly bank reconciliations for all accounts, investigate and resolve any discrepancies, and ensure all transactions are properly recorded. Maintain an audit-ready reconciliation file.
- Identify and implement strategies to mitigate financial risks associated with currency fluctuations, interest rate changes, and liquidity challenges.
- Oversee and manage short-term investment portfolios and debt instruments.
- Provide support for financing activities, including the management of loans and credit facilities.
- Calculate loan interest accurately and prepare accruals in accordance with loan agreements and accounting principles.
- Verify interest calculations provided by lenders and resolve any discrepancies.
- Process loan interest payments and principal repayments accurately and punctually.
- Analyze potential investment opportunities and available funding options.
- Prepare detailed treasury reports, including cash flow forecasts, liquidity analyses, and risk assessments.
- Offer management insights into treasury performance and prevailing market trends.
- Maintain meticulous records and enforce robust internal controls for treasury policies and transactions, including comprehensive documentation.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Possess a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a closely related field.
- Accumulate 3 to 5 years of professional experience in treasury, corporate finance, or banking.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of cash management principles, banking operations, and various financial instruments.
- Exhibit proficiency in using treasury management systems (TMS) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
- Possess advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling techniques.
- Showcase strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational capabilities.
- Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with effective stakeholder management abilities.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
- Hold professional certifications such as Certified Treasury Professional (CTP), CFA, CIMA, ACCA, or equivalent.
- Have prior experience with international treasury operations and foreign exchange management.
- Be familiar with relevant regulatory frameworks and compliance standards.
- Possess prior exposure to corporate financing structures.
