Role overview
This is a full-time, on-site Travel Consultant position based in Nairobi, Kenya. The role is with a Kenya-based travel services company that creates and manages tailored travel experiences for leisure and corporate customers. The organization emphasizes dependable, safe, and budget-conscious travel planning across local, regional, and international routes.
Applicants must already live in Kenya and be legally permitted to work there.
What you will do
- Advise clients on suitable travel options such as flights, lodging, transfers, tours, and travel insurance, while keeping their preferences and budgets in mind.
- Create, prepare, and verify travel reservations.
- Issue tickets and travel vouchers.
- Handle booking updates, cancellations, and other amendments.
- Coordinate with airlines, hotels, and other travel partners to complete arrangements.
- Respond to customer questions by phone, email, and face to face.
- Share correct guidance on visa rules, health-related travel rules, and required travel documents.
- Process payments and keep client information accurate inside booking systems.
- Troubleshoot travel issues and service-related complaints.
- Contribute to business growth through prompt follow-up and strong customer care.
Experience and qualifications
- A minimum of 4 years’ experience in travel consulting and travel arrangement work.
- Practical ability to build, plan, and coordinate complete travel itineraries.
- Hands-on experience with booking tools and platforms, including AERO CRS.
- Background in arranging flights, accommodation, and related travel services.
- Strong customer service, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
- Careful attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
- Ability to manage several bookings and deadlines at the same time.
- Working understanding of international and regional travel rules, visa requirements, and travel insurance options.
- Comfort using reservation systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with GDS Amadeus and NDC is required.
- A Diploma or Degree in Travel, Tourism, Hospitality, or a similar field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Capacity to work on-site in Nairobi and collaborate well with a team while maintaining a polished, client-first approach.
