Transport Coordinator

About the Role

DP World is seeking a Transport Coordinator for an initial 12-month Fixed Term Contract in Cork, Ireland. This role is crucial for managing and coordinating transportation and logistics operations, focusing on route planning, vehicle scheduling, driver communication, and fleet maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Assign approved service providers for transportation based on the carrier matrix, mode, service level, and cost efficiency to meet customer expectations.
• Proactively identify shipments at risk of not meeting delivery dates by collaborating with operations, considering mode, service level, mileage, and equipment type.
• Monitor vehicle movements using GPS tracking software.
• Tender loads to carriers and confirm scheduled and actual pickup times.
• Consolidate shipments to enhance efficiency and achieve cost savings.
• Assist providers with shipment recovery when necessary.
• Communicate cost-effective transportation solutions to stakeholders.
• Collaborate closely with the warehouse team on shipment scheduling and prioritization.
• Report on, monitor, and analyze carrier performance to ensure adherence to service metrics.
• Strive to meet and exceed established goals for on-time pickup and delivery.

Key Skills and Qualifications

• Previous experience in transportation or logistics, with a demonstrated ability to resolve issues promptly.
• Familiarity with transport planning, customs procedures, and white glove services is advantageous.
• Possess confident communication skills and a professional telephone manner.
• Exhibit strong organizational abilities and the capacity to communicate effectively across all organizational levels.
• Proficient in PC usage.
• A customer service-oriented approach.
• Ability to work towards targets and perform effectively under pressure.
