Role overview

This position is for an In-Process Quality role in panel manufacturing based in Bengaluru, Karnataka, within the Quality Assurance department. The selected candidate will report to the Quality Supervisor or Quality Manager. The core responsibility is to monitor panel quality throughout assembly so that components, wiring, busbar installation, and related work comply with drawings, specifications, process instructions, and safety norms. The role helps catch defects early, stops non-conforming panels from moving ahead, and supports the production and quality teams in improving first-pass quality and reducing rework.

Key responsibilities

  • Carry out planned and urgent quality checks on electrical and control panels at different assembly stages, including pre-assembly, mid-assembly, and final assembly.
  • Confirm that all parts such as relays, MCCB/ACB, MCBs, busbars, terminals, wiring, control devices, and indicating instruments are installed in the correct position, orientation, and mounting arrangement as per drawings and work instructions.
  • Review wiring for continuity, correct termination, wire numbering, color coding, routing, bundling, and proper placement of clips and spacers.
  • Examine busbar work for fabrication quality, bending accuracy, insulation, spacing, and tightening torque against required standards.
  • Check earthing and grounding connections, grounding continuity, and required safety clearances.
  • Ensure labels, nameplates, and markings are installed correctly in line with customer and standard requirements.
  • Perform dimensional verification and visual examination using tools such as calipers, tape measures, and torque wrenches where permitted.
  • Validate that test outcomes are within acceptable limits and are documented properly.
  • Identify faulty assemblies or components, mark them clearly, and keep them separated from acceptable material.
  • Prepare NCRs or assembly defect reports with clear observations and supporting evidence.
  • Inform assembly supervisors, production teams, and quality engineers promptly so corrective action can begin quickly.
  • Monitor rework activity and recheck repaired panels to confirm that the issue has been fully resolved.
  • Enter inspection results in quality check sheets or relevant systems with complete traceability, including batch or panel number, date, and inspector details.
  • Follow ISO 9001 requirements, company quality procedures, SOPs, control plans, and inspection instructions.
  • Keep inspection tools within valid calibration status and escalate any calibration-related concerns.
  • Share recurring defect trends and process deviations with assembly teams to help improve workmanship.
  • Take part in root-cause analysis, defect-reduction efforts, and quality review meetings.
  • Support internal audits, customer inspections, and supplier-quality discussions related to assembly components.
  • Recommend improvements to assembly methods, wiring practices, and inspection checklists.

Candidate profile

The ideal applicant should be detail-oriented, observant, and able to communicate clearly with operators, supervisors, and quality engineers. The role also calls for discipline, dependability, the ability to work under production pressure, and a strong safety-first attitude with proper PPE use and compliance with EHS practices.

Performance measures

  • Ability to detect assembly defects and stop defective panels from moving to the next stage.
  • Reduction in rework and repeated defects over time.
  • Accuracy and speed in completing inspection records and NCR documentation.
  • Improvement in first-pass quality of assembled panels.
  • Consistent adherence to inspection schedules and tool calibration requirements.
