About Heidelberg Materials Trading
Heidelberg Materials Trading operates as the global trading division of the Heidelberg Materials Group, managing the export and import of dry-bulk commodities internationally. We are seeking a highly capable individual to join our Heidelberg office as a Trading Management Trainee / Assistant Trade Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide support to the Trading team in daily commercial and operational tasks including managing deal operations, structuring deals, analyzing freight rates, securing internal approvals, preparing offers, and conducting market research.
- Coordinate with suppliers, buyers, freight companies, and various internal departments across different international time zones.
- Track deal pipelines and maintain precise records within CRM platforms.
- Assist in contract management, documentation handling, and ensuring compliance protocols are met.
- Support invoicing processes and help resolve operational challenges.
- Collaborate closely with Shipping and Trade Operations teams to ensure transactions are executed seamlessly.
- Conduct research and analyze customs regulations, trade data, and market trends.
- Investigate new business opportunities and keep abreast of market developments.
Candidate Requirements
- Fluency in English and Chinese at a minimum of C1 level; preferably with an IELTS score of 7.5 or above.
- Strong interest in building a long-term career in international business and commodity trading.
- Possession of a Bachelor's or Master's degree in business management, engineering, economics, international trade, foreign trade, or a related discipline.
- Up to three years of relevant experience in commodity trading, shipping, logistics, or similar sectors. The exact position level (Management Trainee or Assistant Trade Manager) will depend on experience.
- Readiness to travel frequently to West and North Africa and ability to work flexibly across multiple time zones.
- Proficiency in MS Excel (advanced formulas and reporting) and MS Word.
- Experience working with CRM tools such as Salesforce is advantageous.
- Familiarity with AI-enabled tools, including agentic AI, to enhance analysis and decision-making is a beneficial plus.
- Demonstrated skill in managing internal and external stakeholders professionally, with a proactive, adaptable, and results-focused mindset.
- Highly motivated and able to thrive in fast-moving, dynamic workplace environments, adjusting quickly to shifting priorities.
- Strong organizational and attention-to-detail capabilities with solid numerical and analytical strengths to make sound decisions amid unclear or incomplete information.
- Effective team collaborator and communicator able to influence stakeholders and leaders using data-based insights and logical argumentation.
