About the role
This is a practical, community-oriented position that supports the upkeep, safety, and presentation of Council open spaces and township areas. As a Township Maintenance Officer, you will help create tidy, safe, and enjoyable spaces that residents and visitors can appreciate.
The role offers variety, outdoor work, and the chance to grow hands-on maintenance skills while contributing in a visible way to the local community.
What you’ll do
- Keep open spaces and township areas clean, safe, and well maintained for public use.
- Carry out small-scale construction and repair work, including concreting, welding, woodworking, signage tasks, and fixing playground components.
- Inspect and maintain assets such as playgrounds, park furniture, bridges, and other public spaces.
- Complete general upkeep tasks such as rubbish collection, cleaning, graffiti removal, and manual labour.
- Operate and look after plant and equipment used for maintenance and construction work.
What you’ll need
- Experience in maintenance, construction, or another outdoor hands-on role.
- Practical ability in basic repairs, minor construction, and the use of hand and power tools.
- Confidence operating plant and equipment such as tractors, skid steers, hot washers, and similar machinery.
- A strong focus on workplace safety and safe operating practices.
- Physical fitness for manual work, including lifting, carrying, digging, and raking.
- The ability to check assets, identify maintenance issues, and respond appropriately.
- A dependable, proactive approach with good teamwork and time management.
Salary and conditions
This is a full-time position offering a salary of $70,022 to $75,467 plus superannuation. The role also follows a 9-day fortnight arrangement.
