About the Role
UMA RUBBER AND PLASTIC PRODUCT, a company established in 1991 specializing in rubber manufacturing, seeks a dedicated Tooling and Die Executive / Tool Room Engineer. The candidate will be responsible for designing and maintaining tooling and dies, supporting production lines to ensure product quality and timely delivery.
Primary Responsibilities
- Create 2D and 3D tooling designs for dies, molds, and other components using AutoCAD and SolidWorks software.
- Produce detailed fabrication drawings in collaboration with production and R&D teams for tool manufacturing and modifications.
- Manage all aspects of tool room operations, including scheduled preventive and corrective maintenance of dies, jigs, and fixtures.
- Regularly inspect and enhance existing tools used for producing rubber and plastic parts to maintain operational efficiency.
- Coordinate tool development projects internally and with external vendors, including outsourcing tasks.
- Maintain comprehensive records of tool designs and versions to ensure traceability and documentation integrity.
- Support new product introductions by developing precise and manufacturable tooling solutions aligned with design specifications.
- Ensure tools meet dimensional accuracy and quality standards through rigorous measurement and control checks.
- Troubleshoot any tooling-related production challenges and implement effective corrective actions.
- Adhere to safety protocols and maintain cleanliness within the tool room environment.
Candidate Profile and Requirements
- Minimum qualification: Diploma or ITI in Tool & Die Making, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical discipline.
- 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in tooling design and tool room operations, ideally within rubber, plastic, or polymer manufacturing sectors.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD for designing and modifying tooling components.
- Strong understanding of mold and die design, including extrusion, compression, and injection molding processes.
- Hands-on experience with tool room machinery such as lathes, milling machines, surface grinders, drilling machines, and fitting tools.
- Ability to accurately interpret engineering drawings, tolerances, and GD&T standards.
- Good grasp of machining processes and lifecycle management of production tooling.
- Quality-oriented and detail-focused, with an ability to collaborate effectively across multiple departments.
- Experience using precision measuring instruments, such as micrometers, calipers, and height gauges.
- Exposure to silicone extrusion tooling and familiarity with CAD/CAM software or CNC interfaces are advantageous.
- Strong project management skills for handling tooling development and vendor coordination.
