Job description

Role Overview

Cadence Education is looking for a Preschool Teacher Assistant to support young children in a lively, caring classroom setting. This opportunity is suited to someone who enjoys early childhood care and education and wants to contribute to children’s growth in a meaningful way.

Cadence Education focuses on helping children, families, and educators build strong futures. The organization uses a research-backed curriculum in a warm, home-style setting and encourages a team culture where people can learn, contribute, and grow.

What the Job Involves

Working under the School Director and classroom lead, the assistant helps carry out daily classroom routines and Cadence Education programs. The role is centered on maintaining a safe, supportive, and stimulating environment that meets children’s physical, emotional, social, developmental, and behavioral needs, including support for children with IEPs, while staying aligned with safety and licensing requirements.

Key Duties

  • Help create a respectful, positive classroom where each child is treated with dignity and care.
  • Welcome children and families each day and contribute to friendly, professional relationships.
  • Support the team in identifying and responding to developmental, behavioral, cultural, and learning needs, including IEPs and behavior plans when directed.
  • Assist with planning and delivering age-appropriate curriculum and Cadence Signature Programs.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with families, coworkers, and leaders using approved communication tools.
  • Follow safety and supervision procedures, including recording and reporting accidents and incidents as required.
  • Help manage, document, and escalate challenging child behaviors according to company procedures.
  • Comply with all policies and procedures described in the employee handbook.
  • Take part in meetings, training sessions, and professional development activities, which may happen outside standard working hours.

Benefits and Perks

Full-time assistants are eligible for a competitive compensation package and a wide range of benefits. The role includes on-demand pay through UKG Wallet, a 50% childcare tuition discount, and an hourly wage of USD 14 to USD 18.

Additional benefits include a 401(k) with employer match, medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and pet insurance, paid time off that increases with seniority, paid holidays, and company-paid life insurance. Employees also have access to paid CDA support, tuition reimbursement, and professional development opportunities. Cadence Education emphasizes teamwork, support, and work-life balance, and operates more than 340 schools across 30 states with over 30 years of experience in early childhood education.

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate can consistently follow safety practices such as name-to-face accountability, allergy procedures, bottle-feeding steps, and safe sleep standards. You should be comfortable working as part of a classroom team and be able to read, write, and speak English effectively.

Education and Experience

An associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related area is preferred, but not mandatory if state licensing requirements are already met. Prior experience in early childhood education or a classroom setting is also preferred. Candidates must meet the minimum education and experience standards required by the state where they work.

Licensing and Compliance

Applicants must satisfy all state licensing requirements for a Teacher Assistant in a licensed childcare center. They must also be able to obtain and keep the necessary background checks and health screenings. A CDA is preferred, though not required if state conditions are fulfilled.

Schedule Notes

Flexibility is important for this role. Work schedules may change based on enrollment, staffing ratios, and operational needs. Hours are not guaranteed to be standard eight-hour shifts, and daily start and finish times may vary.

Location

The position is based in Academy, Northern Region, Uganda.
