Job description
Role overview
This position is part of the safety function for project execution in Karnataka. The role supports planning, compliance, contractor coordination, incident follow-up, and continuous improvement across assigned sites, with a strong focus on maintaining safe work practices and meeting statutory requirements.
Planning and budgeting
You will contribute inputs for project-level budgeting, monitor budget usage for assigned work, and share periodic reports. You will also support the preparation of the yearly safety plan for the project.
Safety management
The role involves helping build and improve safety processes, preparing the monthly safety activity plan based on site work, and ensuring that activities are executed as scheduled. You will coordinate approvals for temporary structures, drawings, scaffolds, and formwork systems from structural consultants while factoring in safety and health risks. You will also help organize observances such as National Safety Day, Road Safety Week, and World Environmental Day.
Additional duties include overseeing safety systems such as biannual environmental testing, electrical safety, fall protection, and firefighting arrangements, along with regular mock drills. You will coordinate monthly review meetings with contractors and PMC teams, document action points, and track their closure. You will also support subcommittee meetings, maintain records of discussions and action plans, and monitor progress on follow-ups.
Another part of the job is conducting training needs analysis with project teams, submitting findings for approval, coordinating training as per the calendar, delivering assigned training sessions, and checking that safety inductions happen as planned. You will assist with incident investigations by collecting data from site teams, raise material requests with the regional safety lead, and follow up for timely supply. You will also review contractor-prepared EHS plans, emergency response plans, and waste management plans, helping drive their implementation, and prepare safety MIS for the assigned projects.
Risk management and compliance
You will support external audits by arranging the required records and data, track closure of corrective actions across sites with the project team, and ensure adherence to EHS, BOCW, and other applicable regulations. The role also includes updating the compliance portal within the defined timelines and reviewing HIRA compliance to confirm that controls are being implemented effectively.
Agency, vendor, and contractor management
You will take part in pre-bid meetings and brief finishing-work contractors on project expectations, especially safety standards and site rules. The role includes pre-qualification assessments for contractors, sharing evaluation inputs with the contracts team, attending kick-off meetings, and explaining safety requirements to contractors. You will also collect site observations on contractor performance and suggest improvement actions.
Continuous improvement
The position supports root-cause analysis by gathering data, recommending corrective and preventive actions, and implementing approved CAPA items. You will also contribute ideas for automating safety processes and help execute approved automation initiatives within the agreed timelines while reporting progress.
