Job description
Role Overview
This position is responsible for driving site-level quality management for the Birla Evara project in Karnataka. The role covers planning, budgeting, quality control, assurance, audit readiness, documentation, and continuous improvement to ensure construction and handover activities meet company standards and applicable regulations.
Planning and Budgeting
- Track industry practices and market developments related to quality standards.
- Prepare the site quality budget and submit it to the Regional Head for review, final approval, and adoption.
- Operate within approved project budgets and ensure quality-related work stays within allocated resources.
- Develop site quality management plans and route them for review and approval.
Quality Control
- Run kick-off discussions and brief contractors on the project’s quality expectations.
- Prepare quality plans and method statements for assigned projects and obtain the required approvals.
- Check incoming materials for compliance, flag deviations, coordinate timely replacements, and arrange third-party inspections when needed.
- Carry out weekly site quality inspections to confirm that work aligns with internal standards and statutory requirements.
- Raise non-conformance reports against contractors for deviations, perform root cause analysis, and submit corrective and preventive action plans for approval.
- Inspect units during handover to confirm readiness and work with stakeholders to close identified gaps.
- Escalate and follow through on deviations with the relevant teams until closure within defined timelines.
- Ensure all issues found during inspections are resolved through coordination with stakeholders.
- Maintain complete records of inspections and third-party reports.
- Prepare and manage project-wise quality MIS reports.
Quality Assurance
- Execute all quality-related activities in line with the Birla Quality Manual and other applicable standards for the site.
- Support internal and external audits and ensure the site is ready with the necessary documentation.
- Work with the project head to close all audit observations within the prescribed timelines and implement corrective actions.
- Conduct regular on-site quality training to improve awareness and participate in external training programs when required.
Continuous Improvement
- Contribute ideas to strengthen the quality management system.
- Identify improvement opportunities using best practices, obtain sign-off, and ensure effective implementation.
