About the Position
Eastern Shore Title Company is seeking a meticulous and knowledgeable Title Examiner to become part of our expanding team. This position entails conducting in-depth title searches and ensuring proper recording of documents with Maryland land records.
Primary Duties
- Perform extensive reviews of public documents such as deeds, mortgages, judgments, tax files, easements, and other legal instruments to detect any liens, encumbrances, or title defects.
- Utilize expertise regarding recording protocols to submit documents either electronically or in-person for courthouse recording.
- Work closely with Settlement Coordinators by providing prompt title reports and responding to inquiries.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness by thoroughly reviewing finalized title work.
- Stay informed about updates in Maryland state laws, underwriter standards, and best practices relevant to title examination.
Required Qualifications
- At least 3–5 years of experience in title examination or a similar field.
- Proficiency in Qualia title production software.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Maryland’s title search standards, recording procedures, and real property legislation.
- Skilled in analyzing and interpreting public land records, court documentation, and legal instruments.
- Exceptional attention to detail combined with strong analytical capabilities.
- Ability to handle multiple files concurrently and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies, Business, or related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- Possession of a State of Maryland Title Insurance License.
