Job description
About the Role
This opportunity is with a fast-expanding creative and marketing agency headquartered in Toronto. The agency partners with restaurants, nightlife labels, and lifestyle-focused businesses, and its focus is on producing content that drives results rather than content that is only visually appealing.
The team is seeking a social media content editor based in Ghana who can work on short-form videos designed to hold attention, improve watch time, and encourage engagement on platforms such as TikTok and Instagram. Candidates who can transform raw clips into videos that people pause to watch will fit well in this role.
Key Work
- Edit short-form content for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts.
- Download source footage from cloud storage, complete the edit, and upload the finished files back to the system.
- Shape the pacing, sequencing, and flow of each video to maximize viewer retention.
- Use CapCut to add captions, effects, and transitions.
- Work from creative guidance while also suggesting ideas that can strengthen the final output.
- Deliver finished edits reliably and within agreed timelines.
Required Profile
Applicants should have solid hands-on experience with CapCut or a comparable editing tool. A strong grasp of social media trends and the style of content that tends to go viral is important, along with the ability to create fast-moving, engaging short-form edits.
A dependable internet connection is necessary for downloading and uploading project files. Clear communication and the ability to follow creative instructions are also essential.
Useful Extra Skills
These abilities are not mandatory, but they would add value:
- Basic marketing knowledge or an understanding of how content performance is measured.
- Experience using design tools such as Canva or Photoshop.
- Prior editing experience for brands, restaurants, or lifestyle-focused content.
- Awareness of trending Afrobeats tracks before they become overused.
- Strong familiarity with TikTok and Instagram formats, including hooks, pacing, and viral structures.
- A good eye for CapCut font combinations, text placement, and polished on-screen visuals.
- Ability to create captions that match the edit and encourage audience interaction.
- Comfort receiving feedback and applying revisions quickly without repeating mistakes.
- Understanding of what makes content perform well, beyond simply looking attractive.
- Creative instinct for turning simple footage into engaging, scroll-stopping videos.
- Good sense of timing, rhythm, and beat matching, especially for music-led edits.
Employment Options
This role can be structured as full time, part time, or contract work, depending on the applicant’s availability, experience, and the quality of their work.
- Full time: Suitable for editors who can handle ongoing content needs consistently.
- Part time: Best for editors who can support a fixed number of edits each week.
- Contract: Ideal for editors available on a project-by-project basis or for specific content batches.
Compensation
For full-time work, the starting pay is ₵2,000 per month during an onboarding period of 1 to 3 months. After that period, editors who meet performance expectations can move to ₵4,000+ per month.
Hiring Note
The team is looking to hire as soon as possible, and strong candidates are expected to hear back quickly.
