Role overview

This opportunity sits with The Natural Pet Food Group, a New Zealand-based manufacturer focused on helping pets live healthier, more natural lives. The business is known for premium brands such as K9 Natural and Feline Natural and continues to expand its presence internationally.

The role is field-based and supports the New Zealand market, with regular travel across regions. It is primarily focused on growing independent pet retail accounts, while also providing support to important national customers. That support includes store visits, team education, and promotional delivery for retailers such as Animates, Pet Direct, and Petstock.

What you will be doing

You will spend most of your week driving sales growth across independent pet specialty stores and managing territory activity. In addition, you will help strengthen key account relationships by visiting stores, training retail staff, and ensuring promotions are executed effectively.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and grow sales within the assigned territory.
  • Build strong relationships with store owners and retail teams at branch level.
  • Support national account customers through in-store visits and product education.
  • Carry out merchandising, display placement, and promotional activity.
  • Identify and act on new commercial opportunities within the market.
  • Maintain disciplined planning and CRM updates.
  • Travel regularly throughout New Zealand as required by the role.

The ideal candidate will bring experience in territory sales, preferably in FMCG, pet specialty, or consumable categories linked to health and nutrition. You should be comfortable influencing retail decision-makers, working directly with store teams, and managing execution in a busy field environment.

Commercial awareness, organised planning, and strong CRM habits are important, along with the ability to travel frequently across New Zealand.

Requirements

  • Background in territory sales within FMCG, pet retail, or health and nutrition-related consumables.
  • Proven ability to build rapport with retail owners and shop-floor teams.
  • Experience with merchandising, store presentation, and promotional execution.
  • Ability to recognise and convert sales opportunities.
  • Strong planning skills and consistent CRM usage.
  • Willingness to travel regularly around New Zealand.
