About the Opportunity
Join New Zealand's pioneering Thermal Hydrolysis Process (THP) team at Moa Point's Sludge Minimisation Facility. This exceptional position welcomes a highly skilled Technician to operate innovative sludge treatment technology. Core Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor systems including dewatering, THP, anaerobic digestion, and thermal dryers
- Perform daily operational tasks such as process oversight, sampling, and testing protocols
- Utilize SCADA systems to optimize control parameters
- Take immediate action to resolve process alarms and deviations
- Maintain precise records of operational data and detailed logs
- Work collaboratively with Moa Point WWTP teams to ensure integrated plant efficiency
Maintenance and Process Improvement
- Conduct planned preventative maintenance activities
- Detect and report potential equipment faults preemptively
- Assist development and refinement of operational procedures tailored to New Zealand’s environment
- Contribute to enhancement and documentation of standard operating procedures (SOPs)
Safety and Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure adherence to contractual, resource consent, and health and safety requirements
- Foster and participate in a proactive safety culture and audits
- Oversee chemical inventory and manage delivery processes
- Report and investigate workplace hazards and incidents
Required Experience and Skills
- Proven expertise in wastewater treatment operations, with advantage in anaerobic digestion and thermal drying
- Strong problem-solving capabilities and meticulous record-keeping
- Experience using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
- Competency in controlling and monitoring processes via SCADA
- Excellent technical aptitude and strong attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications in Electrical and/or Mechanical trades such as Fitter & Turner or equivalent
- Basic familiarity with ISO standards including ISO45001, ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO55000, or ISO50001
