Role Summary
The Sensory Needs Service is inviting applications for the role of Technical Resource Officer within its Vision Impairment Support Team. This role offers an exciting chance to impact positively the educational experiences of children and young people with visual impairments by ensuring they have access to crucial specialized technology and adapted resources.
As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will lend your technical expertise by managing specialist equipment and assistive technology, creating accessible learning content, and supporting educational settings to optimize the use of available resources.

Candidate Requirements
- Possession of RQF Level 2 qualifications in English and Mathematics.
- Either hold a Grade 2 Braille qualification or demonstrate a commitment and capacity to achieve this within an agreed timeframe after appointment.
- Demonstrated strong IT capabilities, including diagnosing and resolving technical issues, preferably with experience using technology within educational contexts.
- Experience supporting children and young people with visual impairments, with an understanding of their educational and accessibility needs.
- Proven ability to prioritize multiple tasks, work independently, and collaboratively as a part of a team.
Additional Information and Terms
The position involves an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check due to regulatory requirements. Evidence of overseas police checks may be required for candidates with international experience. The role is term-time only with a full-time equivalent salary estimated at £28,350 per annum, paid on a pro rata basis. In-person interviews will be held on 9 September 2026 at County Hall in Lewes.
