Team Leader - Stewarding

Role overview

This position is part of the food and beverage and culinary function at a hotel in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. It is a full-time, non-management role focused on keeping kitchen and stewarding areas clean, organized, and safe while supporting smooth daily operations.

What you will do

You will operate and care for cleaning tools and equipment such as dishwashers, hand-wash stations, pot-scrubbing stations, and trash compactors. The role covers cleaning and sanitizing kitchen and storage spaces, tables, utensils, knives, and other equipment.

Responsibilities also include receiving deliveries, storing perishables correctly, rotating stock, and making sure clean dishes and wares are placed in the right storage areas. You will use detergents and sanitizing solutions in a three-compartment sink, inspect cleaned items, rewash anything that does not meet standards, and spray rack-loaded items with hot water to remove food residue.

In addition, you will sort, soak, and wash silverware; break down dirty bus tubs; empty and maintain trash bins and the dumpster area; mop assigned areas; dispose of glass safely in proper containers; and separate cardboard and recyclable materials for the recycling bin.

You are expected to follow company policies as well as safety and security procedures, report hazards, accidents, injuries, and maintenance issues promptly, and complete required safety training and certifications. The role also requires protecting company property, communicating clearly and professionally, maintaining positive working relationships, supporting team goals, and meeting quality expectations.

The job involves physical activity, including lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and placing items weighing up to 50 pounds without help. You should also be able to stand, sit, or walk for long periods and perform movements such as reaching overhead, bending, twisting, stooping, and working below the knees. Other duties may be assigned by supervisors when needed.

Qualifications

No high school diploma or GED is required. There is no related work experience requirement, no supervisory experience requirement, and no license or certification is needed.
