Role overview
The Team Lead for Retail Investment Products will own the growth, management, and performance of the company’s retail investment offering. Reporting to the Head of Business Development, this role combines product leadership with active support for sales and marketing initiatives, campaign execution, and direct contribution to revenue and profit objectives.
Core responsibilities
- Oversee every part of the retail product portfolio, including sales, marketing, operational performance, technology, and compliance matters.
- Create and implement deposit growth plans that support target growth levels and improve cost of funds.
- Evaluate customers’ investment requirements and deliver suitable advisory guidance.
- Track developments in the capital markets and review market conditions to shape retail investment strategy and maintain a strong competitive position.
- Assess existing retail investment offerings and identify opportunities to refine, expand, or redesign the portfolio.
- Prepare and submit weekly updates to the reporting supervisor.
- Consistently work toward or surpass sales goals by pursuing new business leads and referral opportunities.
- Build and preserve positive relationships with current and potential clients.
- Review and recommend marketing initiatives that support the organization’s retail banking objectives.
- Provide overall leadership for the company’s retail products function.
Collaboration and leadership
- Offer strategic direction that supports profitable sales outcomes across retail markets while increasing customer value.
- Guide the execution of sales strategies and help strengthen a high-performance sales culture.
- Serve as a key coordinator between consumer business partners, including digital investment initiatives and wealth management.
- Work closely with internal departments as required.
- Align retail investment activities with Accounts, Compliance, and other relevant teams to develop and maintain sound procedures for retail investment banking.
People management
- Encourage strong employee performance through regular engagement and talent development efforts that support retention and future leadership growth.
- Coach team members individually and collectively to improve retail banking outcomes.
- Support the training and retention of capable employees who are committed to excellent customer service.
Compliance and governance
- Follow company policies, internal procedures, and applicable banking regulations.
- Complete all mandatory training requirements.
- Promptly flag any matters that may present audit or compliance risk.
Experience and education
A strong first degree in any field is required. A relevant master’s degree and professional certification will be an added advantage. The ideal candidate should have 5 to 10 years of experience in retail banking or insurance, including supervisory exposure, along with solid financial understanding.
Preferred capabilities
- Deep understanding of retail investment products.
- Strong background in investment banking or insurance.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work in an innovative, well-organized manner and deliver on strategic plans.
- SEC-licensed investment representative status is preferred but not compulsory.
