About the role
Deloitte New Zealand’s tax practice in Tauranga is seeking an experienced tax professional to step into a Manager or Associate Director position. This is an opportunity to grow with a well-known brand, lead others, and contribute meaningfully to both the local Tauranga practice and the wider national team.
The role is centred on managing a client portfolio that includes a mix of SME and corporate tax matters. You will combine strong technical tax expertise with a practical, hands-on style to help strengthen the practice while delivering high-quality client outcomes.
What you will do
- Guide clients on a broad range of business tax topics, including compliance and tax planning.
- Prepare and review income tax provisions for financial statement reporting.
- Support clients in resolving tax disputes.
- Apply current and upcoming tax legislation in day-to-day client work.
- Deliver excellent client service while driving strong performance and teamwork.
- Act as a positive role model and acknowledge the contributions of others.
- Help build high-performing people and teams through challenging, meaningful opportunities.
- Influence clients, teams, and colleagues in a constructive way through confident leadership.
- Use standard technology tools to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and service quality.
What you need
- At least 5 years of experience in a tax compliance and advisory environment.
- A professional accounting qualification.
- Strong understanding of end-to-end tax processes and the New Zealand tax environment.
- Proven leadership and management capability.
- A collaborative mindset and a strong focus on results and client service.
- Ability to spot business development opportunities and bring commercial drive.
