Job description
Overview
Auckland Council is seeking a strategic and people-focused Talent Acquisition Consultant for a fixed-term role through 24 December 2026. In this position, you will support recruitment across Tāmaki Makaurau by partnering with business leaders, candidates, and HR colleagues to deliver high-quality hiring outcomes.
This opportunity sits within Community Wellbeing, one of the council’s largest and fastest-moving operational areas. The portfolio covers front-line and operational hiring, with a strong focus on maintaining excellent community services across community centres, libraries, community hubs, and arts facilities.
Role purpose
You will manage recruitment end to end, from the first briefing with hiring managers through to offer acceptance and onboarding support. The role requires a strong business-partnering approach, the ability to work at pace, and confidence handling a broad range of vacancies in a busy environment.
You will work as part of a team of three Talent Acquisition Consultants supporting this department, and you may also be asked to flex your support across other areas or assist colleagues when workloads change.
Key responsibilities
Your core focus will be to support hiring managers with role scoping, advertising, screening, interviewing, and producing strong hiring outcomes. You will also help ensure recruitment activities align with HR processes and policy, while providing a smooth and positive experience for both candidates and hiring teams.
The role also involves building trusted relationships, communicating clearly, quickly adapting to shifting priorities, and contributing to improvement initiatives alongside day-to-day recruitment delivery.
About you
The ideal candidate brings recruitment experience, preferably in high-volume, front-line, or operational settings. You will be inquisitive, commercially aware, and able to build credibility by being consistent, accountable, and focused on delivery.
You should be comfortable guiding managers through every stage of the hiring process, working well under pressure, and staying focused on practical outcomes that make a real difference.
What Auckland Council offers
You will join a supportive workplace with flexible working, a strong emphasis on wellbeing, and a culture that values continuous improvement. Auckland Council is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and is accredited by GenderTick and a signatory to the Pride Pledge.
Additional information
This is a fixed-term role ending on 24 December 2026. The application closing date is Monday, 23 June 2026 at 11:59pm.
Auckland Council is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes applications from people of all backgrounds, including Rainbow communities, disabled people, and neurodivergent people. The organisation is committed to an accessible recruitment process and will provide support or adjustments where needed.
If you are currently receiving salary protection or are employed under predecessor council terms and conditions, including relocation provisions, those arrangements apply to your current role. If you move into a new position (other than a secondment), you will receive a new employment offer under current Auckland Council terms and conditions.
