About IN2 and the Role

IN2 Engineering in Berlin invites passionate candidates to apply for the role of Sustainability Engineering Intern within their sustainability and building-physics team. The role entails contributing to the creation of environmentally conscious, energy-efficient, and healthy buildings through real project involvement. It is tailored for students or recent graduates in engineering, architecture, environmental design, or related technical fields.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in conducting sustainability assessments for both new constructions and refurbishment projects.
  • Support certification processes such as LEED, BREEAM, DGNB, and other relevant building certifications.
  • Collect, evaluate, and manage sustainability evidence and project-related information.
  • Contribute to studies on energy use, carbon footprint, daylight, comfort, and building performance.
  • Conduct research on sustainable materials, technologies, regulations, and design solutions.
  • Help prepare sustainability reports, presentations, and submissions to clients.
  • Collaborate and coordinate information flow with architects, engineers, contractors, and manufacturers.
  • Assist in formulating project-specific sustainability strategies.

Candidate Profile

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from studies in Sustainability, Environmental Engineering, Architecture, Building Physics, Energy Engineering, or related disciplines.
  • Genuine interest in designing for climate change and sustainable construction practices.
  • Basic knowledge of energy efficiency, carbon reduction, or environmental evaluation.
  • Previous exposure to LEED, BREEAM, DGNB certifications, energy modeling, or lifecycle assessment is beneficial.
  • Strong abilities in research, analysis, and communication.
  • Proficiency in English is essential; German language skills are advantageous.
  • Organized, proactive attitude with comfort in handling technical documents.
  • Motivated to work with multidisciplinary design teams.
